Audio Editor is a multitrack audio editor for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Core editing is free; an optional Pro subscription unlocks the advanced tools, and one subscription works on all your devices signed in to the same Apple Account.

Getting started

Start a project from the Home screen: record, import a file, extract audio from a video, or start a blank project. You can also pick a tool first.
Bring in more audio with "Add Audio". On iPhone and iPad: Record, Files, video, Apple Music, or Wi-Fi Transfer. On Mac: Record, Import File, video — or simply drag audio files onto the window (onto Home for new projects, or onto an open project to add tracks).
Arrange clips on the timeline, trim and split, add effects, then Export.

Frequently asked questions

Which features are free, and which need Pro?

Free on every device: recording and importing, the multitrack timeline (up to 3 tracks), trim, split, delete, effects (EQ, reverb, volume, pan), and standard M4A export.

Pro unlocks everything else:

Transcript editing, Voice Polish, Vocal separation and Spectrogram Repair
Clean Up, Remove Silence, Normalize, Pitch, Reverse, Volume curves, Crossfade, Auto-Duck, Ringtone and Video
Unlimited tracks
Lossless and ringtone export (WAV, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC and .m4r)
Wi-Fi Transfer (iPhone and iPad)

On iPhone and iPad, many of these tools can also be used once for free by watching a short ad. Transcript, Voice Polish, Vocal separation and Spectrogram Repair always need Pro. On Mac, all Pro tools need a subscription.

Does my Pro subscription work on my Mac (or my iPhone/iPad)?

Yes. One subscription unlocks Pro on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Sign in to the App Store with the same Apple Account, then open the app's Settings and tap "Restore Purchases" if Pro isn't active yet.

Why do I see ads, and how do I remove them?

On iPhone and iPad, the free version is supported by ads: one after the launch screen, and occasionally when you finish a task such as closing a project or completing an export. You can also choose to watch a short ad to use a Pro tool once. Ads never interrupt playback, recording, or editing. Subscribing to Pro removes all ads immediately. The Mac version has no ads.

Are the ads personalised — do you track me?

No. The app never asks for tracking permission and does not use your device's advertising identifier for cross-app tracking, so ads are non-personalised. Ads are limited to a G (general audiences) rating. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How much does Pro cost?

Pro is available as a weekly or yearly auto-renewable subscription. The exact price is shown in your local currency in the app before you buy.

How do I cancel my subscription?

iPhone or iPad: open Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → select this app → Cancel.
Mac: open the App Store app → click your name (bottom-left) → Account Settings → Subscriptions → Manage → select this app → Cancel.
You can also use "Manage Subscription" in the app's Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your current period stays active until it ends.

I paid but Pro isn't unlocked.

Open the app's Settings and tap "Restore Purchases". Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account used for the purchase and connected to the internet.

I switched Apple Accounts and lost Pro.

Subscriptions are tied to the Apple Account that purchased them. Sign in with that Apple Account and tap "Restore Purchases".

Can I import Apple Music songs?

On iPhone and iPad you can import songs you own (purchased or synced to your device). Songs streamed via an Apple Music subscription are protected (DRM) and cannot be imported — this is an Apple restriction. Importing also requires the stock Music app to be installed on your device. On Mac, import audio files with Import File or by dragging them onto the window.

Wi-Fi Transfer isn't connecting.

Wi-Fi Transfer is for iPhone and iPad. Make sure your computer and device are on the same Wi-Fi network, keep the transfer screen open, and enter the PIN shown in the app. Some public or corporate networks block device-to-device connections; try a home network. On Mac you don't need it — just drag your files onto the window.

Are there keyboard shortcuts on Mac?

Yes: Space plays or pauses, Delete removes the selected clip, ⌘Z and ⇧⌘Z undo and redo, ⌘E exports, ⌘N starts a new project, and ⌘, opens Settings.

How do I export a ringtone?

Open a project and use the Ringtone tool (or Export → "Ringtone (.m4r)"), then save or share the file. Ringtones are limited to 40 seconds. On iPhone, share the file to GarageBand, then touch and hold it in My Songs and choose Share → Ringtone. On Mac, connect your iPhone, select it in the Finder sidebar, and drag the .m4r file onto its window.

Can't record?

Check that the app has Microphone permission — on iPhone and iPad in Settings → the app; on Mac in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.

Can I request a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Account.
